“The staff of Council for Relationships is thrilled that Steve Treat is being honored as he progresses through his phased retirement. Steve has left his brilliant, positive imprint on the organization after his decades here, and Council as an organization and all of us individually are so much the better for it.”
– Deb D’Arcangelo, CEO, Council for Relationships
Who is Steve Treat?
Dr. Stephen R. Treat is a Senior Therapist and former Director and CEO of Council for Relationships, one of the nation’s oldest and largest counseling agencies. In his role as CEO, he oversaw the operations of 14 offices throughout the Greater Philadelphia area, numerous professional and public educational programs, and his own busy clinical practice at Council.
Today, Steve continues to see clients and consult with family businesses and philanthropies as he phases into retirement. Steve’s expertise, work ethic, and commitment to his family, friends, and clients bar none. He has helped hundreds of people and their families to live their most productive and authentic lives.
In addition to his busy clinical practice, Steve has had an impact on many people through his teaching, consulting, and speaking engagements. Many who first experience Steve outside of the therapy room are drawn to his calm and confident demeanor. He has shared his expertise on national TV, several TED talks, and many print outlets over the years.
Steve’s accomplishments over his 35+ years as a therapist, educator, and executive leader of Council for Relationships are many. But, perhaps Steve’s greatest impact on Council and the behavioral health field will be seen in the future generations of talented therapists who he has trained in Council’s Post Graduate Certificate and Master’s Programs, now numbering well more than 500.
“As humans, siblings, sons and daughters, and co-owners of a fourth-generation family business we have faced some challenges over the years. It is not an exaggeration to say that, without Steve’s 30 plus years of guidance in navigating the occasionally turbulent waters of our often-intertwined family and business lives, we would not be the healthy, collaborative, and empathic unit we are today.”
Council for Relationships is thrilled to celebrate Steve Treat on November 9, 2019. As he begins his phased retirement, we honor the incredible effect his professional achievements and personal passions have had on everyone with whom he has come into contact.
